Considering Braces to get the beautiful straight teeth you've always wanted. Feel free to request an appointment for free Consultation today.
Braces are an effective long-term solution to straightening your teeth and correcting your bite. Orthodontics focus on aligning and straightening teeth using wires and brackets that apply force to the teeth to move them into a particular position. The discipline has advanced over decades and today treatment is a lot shorter and more comfortable than it was in the past.
Patients who have problems with their bite and the way their top and bottom teeth line up against each other should consider having orthodontic treatment. Treatment does require good oral hygiene habits by the patient and regular visits to the practice for check-ups and adjustments. Depending on the extent of the alignment required with your teeth, treatment can take from several months to a a few years with reliable results. Thanks to fixed permanent retention you can be assured that your teeth won't move after treatment is completed.
The main benefit of having orthodontic treatment is that straighter teeth are healthier teeth. When your bite is properly aligned and your teeth are straightened, there are less gaps and areas for food to get trapped and plaque to build up on the teeth, causing decay. In that sense, Braces are a long term investment.
Clear Aligners is the virtually undetectable way to align your smile without traditional braces. The Clear Aligner uses clear, removable aligners to correct slight misalignments (such as crowding or gaps). Each custom fit aligner is fabricated by 3-D computer imaging technology as per your doctor’s treatment plan, to progressively advance your teeth into their ideal position, leaving you with a healthy and beautiful smile.
Clear aligners are not only invisible, they are removable as well, so you can drink and eat what you like while in treatment. Plus, brushing and flossing can be done without any problem. They are also more comfortable, with no wire or metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. As there are no wire usually means you spent short time in doctors office for adjustments. Ceramic braces are the same size and shape as metal braces, except that they have tooth-colored or clear brackets that blend in to teeth. Some even use tooth-colored wires to be even less noticeable.
Ceramic dental braces (including "white" or "clear braces") are a form of conventional orthodontic appliance (bonded brackets and archwire).
A metal archwire is still used. It should be pointed out that with all types of conventional braces there's a metal archwire that runs across your teeth. It's held in place in each tooth's bracket via an elastic band.
In the case of ceramic braces, a silver one is sometimes used. As a more esthetic alternative, a "frosted" or "esthetic" (white) one can be utilized instead, so it's less obvious.
